East Campus Redevelopment

The University of Maryland is exploring the redevelopment of the East Campus District. The objectives of the University are to develop an environment that will attract quality mixed-use development to the Route One corridor, to promote connections and partnerships with the City of College Park as mandated in the Campus Master Plan, and to provide an enhanced campus setting to support its mission to attract the best students and exceptional faculty to the university. This project is the single largest private development opportunity on Route 1, and is located within the U.S. Route 1 Corridor Sector Plan district. It is planned to be developed through public-private collaboration and will promote regional economic development, provide thousands of new jobs, and attract employers and customers from the surrounding metropolitan Washington area. The East Campus Redevelopment Initiative benefits from the guidance provided by the East Campus Steering Committee and the hard work of the East Campus District Subcommittee.
