Biographical Summary
Ann Wylie is the
Vice President for Administrative Affairs. She serves as the Chief Administrative and Finance Officer of the University.
Dr. Wylie oversees seven departments including University Human Resources,
Comptroller, Public Safety,
Facilities Management, Environmental Safety,
Business Services and Procurement & Supply
.
Dr. Wylie, Professor of Geology, is a distinguished
faculty member who has provided exemplary leadership in her previous position as Interim Vice President for Administrative Affairs,
Assistant President and Chief of Staff as well as in past administrative positions as Interim Dean of the Graduate School, Associate Provost, and Interim Associate
Dean of the College of Computer, Mathematical and Physical Sciences.
The development of the University M-Square-Research Park, the redevelopment
of the Route 1 corridor, the transformational East Campus project, and the alignment, design and operation of the proposed
Purple Line, are all under the Vice President for Administrative Affairs. They are critical elements of our continued march
toward building a great university in service to the State and region. Ann Wylie has provided campus oversight on these
development projects from their inceptions.
Ann's passion for the University of Maryland is widely recognized across the campus, in the
community, throughout the University System of Maryland, and across the State. Her deep understanding of the many, complex,
interconnected issues facing the university - administrative, academic, facilities and strategic - will continue
to be invaluable assets for informed leadership during this challenging period in our economy and development.
The University is indeed fortunate to have a person of Ann Wylies's proven capabilities
in the leadership team of the university. The University of Maryland is the most important engine of knowledge and prosperity
in the State of Maryland, the State's key asset in the determination of its future. The achievement and the international
repute of our academic programs, faculty, students, teaching, research and service are at all-time highs, thanks to the work of
many and the leadership of its units.
